#2 Carl Albert (5-0) AT #4 Bishop McGuinness (4-1)

The Match-Up: It’s only week six and we still have a lot of football to be played. However, with both teams already having wins over Guthrie, and neither looking like they’re going to be tripped up anytime soon. It’s hard to imagine that the district champion WON’T be crowned with the winner of this match-up. Carl Albert has been on a terror since the second half of the Ardmore game. The Titans have been absolutely dominant. Bishop McGuinness is starting to get healthy after a stunning week one loss to Del City. We’re in for a treat Thursday night.

The Players: Bishop McGuinness wide receiver Rubell Goe is one of the best receivers in the state. He’s also feeling good after having his best game last week in the win over Guthrie. He caught three touchdown passes and also came up with two interceptions on defense. Worrying about slowing down Goe on offense is one thing. Now you have to worry about him shutting down your passing game. The guy who will avoid Goe on defense is Carl Albert quarterback Johnny Bizzell. The Titan signal caller has completed nearly 60% of his passes for nearly 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns. He’s also ran for over 450 yards and 6 touchdowns. He’s been a critical part of Carl Albert’s first 5-0 start since 2011.

The History: These two teams have been district rivals the last four years and the games have been relatively even. In the last four years, Carl Albert is 3-2 overall and 2-2 in regular season meetings. Carl Albert did get the best of Bishop McGuinness in the 5A semifinals in 2012 with a 56-32 win. Last year, Bishop McGuinness scored a 35-28 win after losing to Carl Albert in 2014, 35-28.
