OKPreps Fan’s Choice POY

Football season has come to a close, the dust has settled on the playoffs, and gold balls were fought for and won. It’s now time to start handing out some awards and accolades to some very deserving individuals. It’s officially Awards Week here on OKPreps.com. We kick things off with the Fan’s Choice for OKPreps Player Of The Year. We announced the ten finalists for the 2016 OKPreps Player Of The Year earlier this month. While the staff selection will be announced later in the week, the finalists were eligible to win the Fan’s Choice award.

Hominy standout Zaven Collins ran away with the fan’s vote to capture the award. With 161,470 votes, Collins outlasted Bixby’s Tucker Pawley who finished second with 126, 213 votes. Collins helped lead Hominy to a perfect record as the Bucks captured a Class A state championship with a rout of Wynnewood in the title game. Collins earned 47% of the vote

Collins, who’s a commit to the University of Tulsa, starred for Hominy on offense and defense this year. As a quarterback and safety, Collins put up big numbers in helping the Bucks win the state title. On offense, Collins threw for over 1,500 yards and ran for over 1,500 yards. After the season came to a close, Collins was sitting with 50 combined touchdowns with passing and rushing.

Thank you to everyone who voted for the OKPreps Fan’s Choice award. Whether you voted once, or over one hundred times for your selection, thank you.
