Big news came out of Moore on Monday as the state’s #1 prospect, offensive lineman Brey Walker, has been granted a transfer from Southmoore to Westmoore. The move has been speculated for a little less than a month but finally became official on Monday. The news comes three weeks after star quarterback, and Texas commit, Casey Thompson enrolled at Newcastle. Former Southmoore offensive coordinator Jeff Brickman was hired as Newcastle’s head coach earlier this year.
Many are left wondering what is happening at Southmoore. Losing a quarterback to the school that just hired his offensive coordinator is one thing. But losing your star offensive lineman to a cross-town rival is another.
Walker has been the top rated prospect in the OKPreps 2018 rankings since they first came out. Committed to Oklahoma, Walker is one of the top players in the country and has been selected as an All American. When it’s all said and done, Walker could be considered the top recruit to come out of Oklahoma since Gerald McCoy in the mid 2000’s.
Not only does Westmoore get the top prospect in the state, they get the top offensive lineman to be apart of an already potent offense. The Jags return just about every skill player on the offensive side of the ball. Leading the way will be quarterback Braxton Bohrofen. He’ll have several targets to throw to in Damoriea Vick and James Palmer. He also shares the backfield with a running back duo of Braxton George and Garrett King. With the addition of Walker, Westmoore’s offense has the chance to be very special this fall.
