Bishop Kelley head coach J.J. Tappana joked before a game that they were a football team in an ultimate frisbee competition. The Comets aren’t the best suited team for a 7 on 7 tournament, however that didn’t stop them from succeeding. They made it to the final eight after teams started dropping on Saturday during bracket play. They finished with a 4-3 record during pool play. The Comets would go on to go 3-2 in bracket play and were eliminated by host Shiloh Christian in the afternoon.
Stepping up for the Comets was quarterback Jake McMurray. The Comet signal caller had a solid weekend throwing the football. As seen in the highlights, he would consistently make accurate throws on the run. Bishop Kelley was also helped out by a defense that held opponents to single digits on four separate occasions during the two days in Arkansas. Not an easy task in a 7 on 7 scoring format.
