It’s a clean sweep this week for Carl Albert wide receiver and safety Jason Taylor II. The Carl Albert standout is the staff pick for OKPreps Player Of The Week and he has won the Fan’s Favorite award after getting the majority of votes in the last 72 hours. Taylor was a candidate for the award after he dominated in Carl Albert’s blowout victory over Claremore in the semifinals. He ran for three touchdowns, caught a touchdown and had an interception on defense. Earlier this week, Taylor was announced as a candidate for OKPreps Player Of The Year.
Taylor won the Fan’s Favorite award with 51% of the vote, after nearly 25,000 votes came in over the last few days. It was a two player race as Taylor beat out Jones quarterback J.D. Head, who finished with 43% of the vote. This is the fifth time this year that the staff pick and the Fan’s Favorite are the same. It’s the second straight week it’s happened as well. Owasso quarterback Will Kuehne did it back in week zero. Midwest City quarterback Preston Colbert did it in week eight and Muldrow quarterback Braden Gleason did it to wrap up the regular season in week ten. Last week, Noble running back Danny Arenado was the winner of both.
Taylor and the Titans are getting ready for their state championship clash with Bishop McGuinness. For the second straight year, the Titans and Irish will do battle for the 5A gold ball. Carl Albert beat McGuinness in the title game last year and again earlier this season.
