The 2017 football season is in the books and it was a great one. It’s time to start recognizing some of the great individual performances we saw throughout the season. It’s time for Awards Week here on OKPreps. Throughout the week, we’ll have different posts recognizing the best of the best. For the complete schedule and a look at previous posts, check it out at the bottom of this post. We continue things today with the announcement of the 2017 OKPreps Fan’s Favorite For Player Of The Year.
Two weeks ago, we announced the ten finalists for the OKPreps Player Of The Year award. In addition to being a finalist, each player became a candidate for the OKPreps Fan’s Favorite award. Fans were able to vote for their pick over the last two weeks and the voting has come to an end and we have a winner. After nearly 80,000 votes came in, Carl Albert wide receiver and safety Jason Taylor II won the award with 43% of the vote. The Oklahoma State signee was the leader in the Fan’s Vote pretty much throughout the last two weeks.
It was an all Midwest City affair as Carl Albert’s Jason Taylor II won the vote with 43%. Midwest City Bomber quarterback Preston Colbert finished in a close second with 36% of the vote. By the end of last week, it was a two-player race from the Mid-Del area to find out who was going to win the Fan’s Favorite.
Taylor was a Player Of The Year finalist after he and his Titan teammates did something that’s never been done at Carl Albert. They went undefeated. That’s crazy to think with all the state titles the Titans have collected. However, Taylor and the 2017 Titans were the first to accomplish that. Taylor was a huge reason why and had an impact on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. On offense, Taylor caught 42 passes for nearly 800 yards and 14 touchdowns. On defense, Taylor was a menace to opposing quarterbacks, finishing with nine interception on the season.
