Afton quarterback and defensive back Wil Amos has committed to Emporia State. The standout tweeted out his commitment to the Kansas program on Tuesday afternoon. Amos was selected as the 2017 OKPreps Player Of The Year and a first team OKPreps All State selection after a stellar senior season. Most importantly, Amos led his team to a state championship last month.
What didn’t Afton’s Wil Amos do this year? His championship performance, delivering the school’s first ever title, will go down as one of the best title game performances in state history. In Afton’s championship victory over Crescent, Amos had the game of his life. He finished with over 400 yards and six touchdowns on the ground in their blowout victory. He had not one, but two touchdown runs of 90 or more yards. He also had an interception and fumble recovery on defense.
He didn’t just have one good game either. He had a great season. After running for more than 2,000 yards last year, he stepped up his game this year. He became the 11th player in state history with more than 3,000 yards in a season. He finished with 3,247 yards and 45 touchdowns on the ground. He also threw for 1,269 yards and 16 touchdowns. He played nearly every play in Afton’s 14-0 season.
If the commitment holds true and Amos signs with Emporia, he’ll join a roster that is littered with former Oklahoma standouts. Emporia State has always put a big importance on Oklahoma and they’ve struck gold with the Afton product.
