Another day, another Union Redskin standout commits. 2019 running back Darius Boone Jr. announced that he has committed to Eastern Michigan. Boone tweeted out his commitment to EMU on Tuesday, picking Eastern Michigan after visiting the campus recently.
Boone spent the first half of his junior season splitting carries with Kevyion Cooper. When Cooper had a seizure following the Owasso game, Boone became the guy at running back and excelled in the final eight games of the season.
Boone is currently ranked as the 17th overall prospect in the OKPreps 2019 Rankings. He is also ranked as the fourth overall running back in Oklahoma’s 2019 class. Only Millwood’s Marcus Major, Lawton’s Miles Davis and Carl Albert’s Rabbit Taylor are higher. Boone’s teammate and offensive lineman Ricky Stromberg announced his commitment to Tulsa yesterday.
Boone is the eighth D1 commitment in Oklahoma’s 2019 class and the fifth commit in less than two weeks. Owasso quarterback Will Kuehne committed to North Texas last week and Broken Arrow linebacker Zach Marcheselli committed to TCU the week before. In addition to Stromberg committing to Tulsa, Edison offensive lineman Chester Baah committed to TU last week. Boone also joins Collinsville’s Grayson Boomer and Booker T Washington’s DJ Jones, who are committed to OSU. And Booker T Washington’s Thomas Grayson is committed to Nebraska.
Boone’s commitment continues a rapid pace of commitments within the last two weeks. Before Marcheselli’s commitment to TCU, the 2019 class only had three commitments. At this time last year, the 2018 class had over 20 commitments to D1 programs. We talked about how this shows that more commitments are coming and they’re coming fast in our most recent OKPreps Recruiting Report.
