Union defensive lineman Darrias Murdock has announced his commitment to play college football at Tulsa. And that makes three. Three D1 commits this week and they have all come from Union’s talented 2019 bunch.
Running back Darius Boone Jr. announced that he committed to Eastern Michigan on Tuesday and offensive lineman Ricky Stromberg will continue to be Murdock’s teammate as he committed to Tulsa on Monday.
Murdock will be looked to have a big fall for Union after the graduation of defensive tackle Jordan Kelley, who is now at OU. Murdock will move into that spot as a guy up front that will need to anchor a very talented defense behind him.
Murdock is currently ranked as the 25th overall prospect in the OKPreps 2019 Rankings. He is also ranked as the third overall defensive lineman in Oklahoma’s 2019 class. Only Putnam City’s Collin Clay and Norman North’s Cole Mashburn are ranked higher.
Murdock is the ninth D1 commitment in Oklahoma’s 2019 class and the sixth commit in two weeks. Owasso quarterback Will Kuehne committed to North Texas last week and Broken Arrow linebacker Zach Marcheselli committed to TCU the week before. In addition to Stromberg’s commitment to Tulsa, Edison offensive lineman Chester Baah committed to TU last week. Murdock also joins Collinsville’s Grayson Boomer and Booker T Washington’s DJ Jones, who are committed to OSU. And Booker T Washington’s Thomas Grayson is committed to Nebraska.
Murdock’s commitment continues a rapid pace of commitments within the last two weeks. Before Marcheselli’s commitment to TCU, the 2019 class only had three commitments. At this time last year, the 2018 class had over 25 commitments to D1 programs. We talked about how this shows that more commitments are coming and they’re coming fast in our OKPreps Recruiting Report from last week.
