Every Sunday, OKPreps will take a look at the best performances from the previous week in boys and girls basketball. We’ll narrow down the candidates and open it up so you can vote for the “Fan’s Favorite” Player Of The Week. You can vote as many times as you want for your pick and the voting will end at Noon on Wednesday. The winner will be crowned on Wednesday afternoon. The staff selection for the Bravado Wireless Player Of The Week will be made every Monday with a video feature of the winner coming out on Tuesday. Here’s a look at this week’s candidates.
CEDRIC ROLLERSON – GUARD – MOUNT SAINT MARY
Mount Saint Mary’s Cedric Rollerson had a huge week as Mount Saint Mary went 3-0 with wins over Tecumseh, Cascia Hall and Bishop Kelley. Rollerson had back to back 30+ point performances on Tuesday and Friday. He finished with 36 points in the win over Tecumseh and also tallied 7 steals in the win. In Friday’s victory over Cascia Hall, Rollerson had 34 points. And finally, Mount Saint Mary knocked off Bishop Kelley and Rollerson led all scorers again with 21 points. Rollerson will look to continue that play this week in the Purcell tournament.
KALIB BOONE – FORWARD – MEMORIAL
Memorial hadn’t played a game in nearly three weeks but the Chargers showed no signs of rust in three wins last week. Memorial would score wins over Will Rogers and East Central before beating Midwest City on the road, Saturday evening. Leading the way was OSU signee Kalib Boone. The Charger big man showed why he’s one of the best players in the state, scoring double-doubles in all three wins. He averaged nearly 20 points per game while averaging 15 rebounds per game. He also finished the week with 11 blocks.
LINDA BRICE – GUARD – COWETA
Coweta sophomore guard Linda Brice had a breakout season for the Lady Tigers last year and she’s only upped her game this season. Coweta got two blowout wins over Claremore and Glenpool and go into this week expecting big things as they participate in the Shawnee Invitational, which begins on Thursday. Brice was a stat sheet-stuffer last week. She averaged 17.5 points per game while dishing out 11 assists, adding 7 steals and 5 rebounds to her season totals. In a wide open Class 5A race, Coweta is a serious contender behind Brice.
SETH POMEROY – GUARD – OWASSO
Owasso bounced back from a tough loss in the Skiatook Invitational title game with two big wins. Ironically, each coming in 57-56 wins. On Tuesday, they beat Broken Arrow and followed that up by knocking off Sand Springs on Friday night. Leading the way for the Rams was senior guard Seth Pomeroy. He led the Rams in scoring in both wins, finishing with 19 points on Tuesday, followed by 22 points on Friday night. In their win over Broken Arrow, it was Pomeroy’s 3-pointer with 7 seconds left that gave the Rams the win.
