6A Girls: Edmond Santa Fe vs Norman
Halftime: Norman 26 and Edmond Santa Fe
Both teams are being anchored by their talented post players. Norman sophomore Kendra Gillespie is currently winning the battle with 12 points, while Edmond Santa Fe junior Kaylee Nero has 9. The Lady Tigers jumped out to an early lead and Santa Fe has been chasing them ever since. Santa Fe has looked their best in transition, while Norman has been not been hesitant to pull from distance in the first half. Freshman guard Myka Perry also has 9 points for the Lady Tigers.

North Texas bound Keira Neal was shut out in the first 16 minutes for Santa Fe. If the Lady Wolves are going to complete the comeback, they’ll need more production from the athletic senior wing.

6A Girls Final: Norman 55 Edmond Santa Fe 48

Edmond Santa Fe briefly pulled ahead in the third quarter, but Norman regain the edge and used outstanding free throw shooting in the final frame to ice away the game. In the second half Norman was a perfect 10-10 from the line. The Lady Tigers made it an emphasis to get to the rim in the final 12 minutes, scoring many of their points off drives.

Norman sophomore Kendra Gillispie finished with a 14 point, 10 rebound double double. An 8 of 8 performance from the line led to 13 points for freshman Mikayla Parks. Edmond Santa Fe was led by 19 points by quick junior point guard Ahoneste Walker, who was a major threat off the dribble all second half for the Lady Wolves.

Norman will play for the Class 6A Girls State Title at 12:00 PM at the Mabee Center in Tulsa. They will find out their opponent this afternoon, when Norman North plays Mustang. Meaning the possibility of another Crosstown Clash looms large.

5A Girls
First Half: Lawton Eisenhower 23 vs El Reno 16

Senior Ginger Reece is a tough shotmaker for the Lady Eagles and she scored 7 points in the second quarter to maintain their first half lead. The future Lady Razorback has hit from distance, and also attacked the rim. Another edge for Eisenhower is on the glass, where they have 18 total rebounds, 6 offensive.

El Reno has struggled from the field with a 2-14 shooting performance, but have been nearly automatic from the line with 12-13 shooting at the charity stripe.

Final: El Reno 40 Lawton Eisenhower

Let’s keep this short and simple, just like the game winning shot by Mercedes Macias for El Reno. They’ll play the winner of Pryor and Piedmont at 6:00 PM, Saturday at the Mabee Center.

Here’s the clip.

Booker T vs Southmoore in 6A Boys is next

Down 12 to start the third quarter, Booker’s top four stepped up and took them to their third straight State Title game. Will the third time be the charm for the Hornets as they take on the winner of Putnam City North and Edmond Memorial at 7:45 PM, at the Mabee Center on Saturday?
