On Monday night, Choctaw 2021 defensive back Jordan Mukes went ahead and let the recruiting world know his future plans. Mukes tweeted out that he had committed to Oklahoma. The commitment comes less than a week after receiving an offer from the Sooners, who had been recruiting Mukes hard for months.
On January 19th, Mukes tweeted out how great his experience was at OU’s junior day. At the time, Mukes was a rising prospect in Oklahoma’s 2021 class, but hadn’t received a D1 offer yet. On January 22nd, that all changed and started a whirlwind two month stretch for the athletic Mukes.
North Texas, as they usually are, was the first to offer Mukes. Shoutout to the coaches at North Texas consistently pulling the trigger on Oklahoma prospects before anyone else. However, that just started the avalanche of offers that Mukes would receive.
Offers from power five schools began to flood in and Mukes’ name quickly became one that schools were circling in Oklahoma. The Sooners pulled the trigger last week and Mukes picked up four more offers after OU. But on Monday night, Mukes went ahead and committed to the Sooners. He joins Weatherford DE Ethan Downs as the state’s only commits in the 2021 class. Downs is also committed to the Sooners.
In February, we had the chance to sit down with Mukes for an episode of the OKPreps Recruiting Report podcast. You can listen to that interview Right Here. Also be sure to stay tuned to OKPreps.com for more on the Mukes commitment and later this week we’ll be dropping our 2021 Top 50 prospect rankings.
